Issues with K10 Head (19x15) Preset - Limited Functionality

Post by Adamhit »

Hi everyone,

I recently received a K10 (19x15) moving head and requested a preset from the Wolfmix team. However, I’m encountering some issues with its functionality. The fixture supports several DMX modes: 21, 23, 35, 78, 92, and 97 channels. But so far, it only works properly in the 23 and 35-channel modes, behaving like a basic wash light. I’m unable to access more advanced features like pixel control or special effects, which I assume should be available in the higher DMX modes (78, 92, and 97 channels).

Has anyone else faced a similar issue, or does anyone have suggestions for getting full functionality out of the K10 with Wolfmix? Could there be an issue with the preset, or is there something I need to adjust in the patching or setup?

Thanks for any advice!

Hello!

Have you tried controlling the higher channel modes with Live Edits? You should be able to access the more advanced channels via Live Edits, if you've not used these before you can find more information on creating Live Edits in our user guide:

https://wolfmix.com/support-content#live_edit

And video tutorial

Please test this out by creating a Live Edit and sending a value to these channels and see if the fixture responds as expected. If you're still not able to control this fixture could you please send us a ticket to our helpdesk confirming the exact name of the fixture (as written on the Wolfmix/ WTOOLS) and I'll look into this! https://help.wolfmix.com/#/home

Thanks!

The profiles usually does not/can not support all available functions of each and every fixture in the market. Since Wolfmix is not fully programmable (as it has all programs and effects preloaded already), you have limited access to these additional functionalities. The profile has to be configured in the way Wolfmix is capable to best handle the fixture by using what he has available. So basic functions like movements (Pan/Tilt) and Colors together with Strobe, Dimmer and a few other functions is what profiles for Wolfmix are made for. The additional bells & whistles a fixture may have are either added by "programming" Live Edits to activate them, or rewrite the profile and re-use "other" DMX controls available to substitute such function with another controller (here: use Gobo Rotation for your Zoom Rotation channel)

I did a few variations of 19x15W Bee Eye profiles myself and I like to pint out the following:
The "Standard" (RGBW) with Zoom and Zoom Rotation also works great (substitute "Rotation" with Gobo Rotation and you have even realtime control). Also the pure RGB and RGBW Pixel Modes are working as expected.

Only in SHAPES Mode it will be quite complex to create a profile, because all the SHAPE channels (Shape Selection, Shape Speed, Shape Fade, Shape Red, Shape Green, Shape Blue, Shape White, Shape Dimmer, Shape Background Dimmer, Shape Transition, Shape Offset) are not regular Wolfmix controls. These then have to be additional set as (static) Live Edits, if you really insist to use this mode in full control.
