Strobe effect
Strobe effect
Can you add a strobe effect in the COLOR & BEAM FX, please?
Re: Strobe effect
you have an "universal" Strobe button for all Wolfmix (ColorFX, BeamFX, static Colors, ...) When pressing Strobe and the light is on, it is simply strobing,...unless a Group is being excluded from Strobe. But no "fancy" Strobe pattern here.
If that is not enough you can also use BeamFX (sine wave pattern or Heartbeat pattern) with a high Speed setting and FADE = 0% to generate a Strobe-like effect. You can even create some Strobe EFFECTS(!) using different PHASE % values or Patterns when having multiple Dimmer beams .
Or you can CREATE your own Strobe effect programming it in Live Edit.

Re: Strobe effect
I also don't see this feature in te color FX or beam FX addressed correctly.
Nevertheless I like the idea to have a possibility to save the strobe in the presets. Of course it would be possible to save the effects also in the presets, but I'm not a fan of this, so it seems most sufficient for me to use the Live edits (and save this in the presets). Here you have additionally the possibility to define the strobe speed individual per fixture and also to have dedicated strobes per fixture, group, .... Always depending, how many live edit button you are willing to spend for that.
@Axel: I'm used to define strobe buttons as flash buttons, but this of course will then not be saved in the preset. What happens, if I define the live edit as standard toggle, to programm my presets and during the gig, I change the live edit button as a flash button. Does the strobe still work as toggle like before in the preset (e.g. like the fx enginees, where it saves the parameters in the preset) or is in within the preset just a virtual push of the live edit button which just activates the current live edit, which is stored there? E.g. if I would ovewrite a live edit, would the preset then trigger the new one or the one which was stored on the live edit, when it was saved in the preset?

Re: Strobe effect
Hello!
Just to add a couple of extra bits of info to this thread-
1) It is possible in FW 2.0 to strobe a specific Group(s) in the home screen by holding Shift + press the Amber button (to strobe in the current colour), or the White button (to strobe and flash simultaneously).
2) You can already store the Flash FX states within a Preset (you will need this enabled in Settings first). Simply enable the Flash effect (i.e. Strobe), then save the Preset and this will then be recalled whenever you trigger the Preset. If your Strobe button is set to Flash, you can always hold Shift + press Strobe to toggle it on temporarily, then you can navigate to the Preset screen to save the Preset.

Re: Strobe effect
Hello Will,
thanks for this information, I was not aware, that you can activate the strobe with the Shift+Amber. I was also thinking that it would be great to have this option on the home screen, but don't wanted to sacrifice blinder or blackout. Of course it is smart to use the shift button.
I know, that I can Strobe FX also in the preset, but I don't like to do that. But as I see, there are options.
Nevertheless it would be great to know what happens with a preset, when the saved live edit is changed. Will it use the one which was on that button when the preset was saved or the current one?

Re: Strobe effect
Any changes to a Live Edit will be global in the project. You essentially have 40 Live Edit presets to use across the project file, and any changes to one Live Edit will apply to all Presets.
Re: Strobe effect
That make sense. So in case you adapt/improve the live edit, you do not have to change all involved presets.
But it's good to know to take this in consideration from the beginning, on which position you put which Live Edit. Otherwise you might have to place on on page 4 which you active quite often manually, because all other pages are already filled with Live edits which are used in presets.
Maybe this would be a nice feature for the future, to have to possibility to move Live Edits and Presets. I know that you can copy them and then delete the old ones, but this would be more comfortable and also solve the above mentioned issue as the preset would notice, that the Live Edit has been moved to another button.
