Can I set a max level on my blinder?

Post by swangletang »

I bought 2 new blinders and they are QUITE bright! I would like them to have a max of 75% not 100% for the entire project.... is this possible to do?

The Blinder button always is taking the max value (255) of all available Color Dimmer channels.
For general "brightness reduction" you want to use the Group Dimmer. For a "customized" Blinder create a separate Live Edit with Dimmer Level 75% (and save as Flash). When creating a separate button you can also select a preferred Color then with this Live Edit.

To bad we can’t set a fade out to a flash live edit. At least not for the moment. Would be nice add for in the future!

If the fixture has a DMX profile with a dimmer channel, you could use live edits to set that channel to 75%, so when Wolfmix sets the color channels to max for blinder, then it will max out at 75%. It looks like the Blinder button does not override the dimmer channel set as a Live Edit button.

If there's no dimmer channel, you may be able to do something weird like using the Beam Editor (Home > Settings > DMX Values > Settings) to lower the DMX Max value for the blinder beams RGBW features to 192. It doesn't look like that applies to the Blinder button, but I think it would be used for the rest of the project (although I'm not sure about the exact behavior and haven't done this before).

Otherwise group dimmer is the way to go as axell suggested.
