New update coming in February?
Re: New update coming in February?
Hello All,
Of course we understand the sheer anticipation for this release, and it does appear we fell victim to the 'expected timeframe' curse. At the time of ISE- we had truly expected the release to take no more than a 3-4 weeks to be ready, but unfortunately as the final stages of development went on- small problems would arise which would add on an extra day's work. Then one fix would sometimes lead to another complication, etc, etc. It's worth baring in mind that facilitating this update has not been a simple case of adding new layers of code over an existing framework- but in fact many of the fundamental structures have had to be pulled out and rewritten entirely.
In short- we have finished each weeks work feeling like the end is very much within reach, but then with every small issue- another day or two's work can be added... If we had any idea that there would be a delay of weeks- we would have of course made an update then (and no doubt, we would have been more vague on the ETA from the start I imagine!). Due to the slow-snowballing cycle of issues and fixes, at no point did we really anticipate it extending beyond this point.
Rest assured- our developer is working relentlessly each and every day and the flow of progression is good. Your patience and ongoing support is greatly appreciated. I say with great confidence that this one will be worth the wait (and of course- I apologise that I can't give you any more specifics on how long that wait might be!).
Kind regards,
Will

Re: New update coming in February?
Will, definitely appreciate the update and also understand the struggles of coding. I know now to just build new shows with current firmware. Thanks again and best wishes to the team!
Re: New update coming in February?
Hi Will,
Thanks for the update!
Probably not what we wanted to hear but probably also not what you’ve expected like mentioned. Still very much looking forward. I’ve said it before better a stable update than a rushed one.
Hope you guys sort the things out and we’ll see this sooner than later.
Thanks again! Well keep patient.

I applaud your honest communication this week. We are excited to see this new release
Re: New update coming in February?
Hello,
A friend of mine bought a new Wolfmix in January, but it already had the new firmware?
When I create new presets, are they supported in the new 2.0 version, or does everything have to be reconfigured?
Gr Ingo

Re: New update coming in February?
Hello Ingo,
The 2.0 firmware currently can only be added to a device by running WTOOLS in Debug mode, then manually uploading the firmware and flash data binary files. In January I believe only 2 or 3 people at most would have had access to these files- so there would have had to be some big mistake made for this to be the case!
Project files made in Firmware 1.x will be forwards compatible with Firmware 2.x, so there is no need to reprogram your show- other than to make use of the latest features of course!
Of course firmware 2.0 has a lot of fundamental code changes, which means that it is possible there will be some issues at the start with project conversion- so we will implore people to create multiple backups of their project files before updating (this is generally good practice anyway, but for sure will be best for peace of mind when 2.0 is released!).
Kind regards,
Will
