Lin-In dont work above 140/150bpm

Post by KoltesPunti »

Sadly with some music genres the beat detection with Line in dont work above 140/150bpm!
So in Genres like Techno, Hardstyle or Hardcore we cant use the music to light feature properly. I Hope there will be a fix were you can use some settings with the line-in!
I bought it to use it with those music but this is a huge disappointment. You need to inform people that music with higher bpm dont work with the wolfmix!

Hello,

Thanks for raising this thread! Pulse detection mode in the Wolfmix actually does not read the BPM from the audio file, it is a binary switch that is is on when a pulse is detected and off when there is no pulse detected. A pulse is recognise when the audio peaks above the average input level of the audio. Once a pulse is received, the effect will jump forward. So what is actually most key in this is dynamic range, rather than BPM. Some audio files or genres have less dynamic range and so the average input volume is high enough that it is hard for the Wolfmix to detect any audio pulses. Sometimes reducing the input volume can help with this.

Sometimes we have also had users work around this by adding a 3rd track in their DJ software with a solid metronome looping, but this will not be outputted to the speakers- only to the Wolfmix. Other users simply opt to use MIDI Clock or Ableton Link for tempo synchronisation. There are actually a number of good and useful posts on this forum which you might find helpful!

Kind regards,
Will

Thx for the reply! Sadly Volume adjusting (on Master and input volume on Wolfmix) dont helped :(

Maybe with a low pass filter it would work? In this genre the Kicks (and Bass) is the key for the Lights!

I really need a solution for this or i threw out 800€ for a piece that dont work with our style of music

A few settings would be nice to adjust for this feature!

And don't forget the handy Tap to BPM button. I'll be honest. Hundreds of hours of use with the Wolfmix at gigs and the line-in usually does a great job. Occasionally on slower stuff I might have to tap out the BPM just to fit the mood better, but otherwise it's been great!
