Hi.
I use Wolfmix in a nightclub. The DJs there don't have to make up their own lighting. They use pre-defined presets that change automatically. Synchronization with the music rhythm is done by BPM with Ableton Link. And it all works perfectly together. However, DJs do not have, and should not have, access to the computer on which Ableton Live is installed. The problem is that every time the Wolfmix power goes out, the Ableton Link button in the WTOOLS program must be pressed.
Is there any way to automate the connection of the Wolfmix to Ableton Link synchronization without the need for human intervention? Ideally, the WTOOLS program would remember the position of this button and automatically send a BPM signal to the Wolfmix when it is connected to WTOOLS.
I will accept any help in this matter. Unfortunately this feature was not tested during the design of this system. So now we are stuck with it and don't know how to get around it. This is a big problem for us. Unfortunately, synchronization with music by cable or microphone does not provide proper smoothness of rhythm changes and is not suitable in this situation. Any hints or help would be appreciated.
Automation of synchronization BPM with Ableton Link
Re: Automation of synchronization BPM with Ableton Link
Hello,
Thanks for raising this thread! I will raise a suggestions to the WTOOLS development team to have this feature added to the software, however I can not guarantee if or when this would be possible.
One alternative suggestion for you in the meantime is that you could use MIDI Clock to synchronise your BPM, providing that you are using an Wolfmix W1 mk2 controller (with the USB-A port on the back) and that you aren't using the port already (i.e. for MIDI control).
Kind regards,
Will

Thank you. I ordered MIDI devices to connect directly to the computer. We'll see how that works out.

Hi Will, we also desperately need an Ableton Link phase meter as well, because there is no way to know what beat of the bar the Wolfmix is actually on.willm wrote: ↑Mon Jan 20, 2025 3:50 pm Hello,

This is commonplace in Traktor, Serato and Rekordbox; as well as Resolume and Showkontrol.
My lighting shows regularly go out of phase when using Link, which is not how the protocol should be implemented.
