Dimmer on liveEdit

Post by [email protected] »

Hello!

I’m struggling to not effect the dimmer when i make a liveEdit.

The only thing i want to effect is the colors and I want to be able to adjust the dimmer when the edit is turned on.

Hello,

Thanks for raising this thread! RGB/colour mixing fixtures in the Wolfmix use the colour channels to virtually 'dim' the fixture, as apposed to using the actual designated Dimmer channel. This means that setting a Live Edit on the RGBW channels will override the dimming effect from using the group dimmers.

My first instinct is to ask why specifically you require a Live Edit on the colour channels? It is possible to set a static colour using the Colour screen, so using the Live Edits screen to do this seems counterintuitive to me (unless there is a specific reason for this perhaps?).

If you do 100% require the Live Edits to be set on the colour channels, then the best bet is likely going to be to manually split the profile into two sections (before and after the Dimmer channel). That way, the Wolfmix will try to dim both parts of the fixture individually- allowing you to set the Live Edits on the RGBW channels, whilst allowing the Wolfmix to target the actual Dimmer channel to dim the fixture. I can walk you through that in more detail as and when it comes to it- but first I believe the best option is to use the static colours (again, unless there is a specific reason for why it should be a Live Edit).

Kind regards,
Will

Thanks for the reply Will.

With this liveedit I want to make a red carpet with a senter beam in white to light ut the DJ. I'm not getting the perfect size if I do it with static colors and I also want it to over ride the preset. Im using 5 moving led bars to do this (it´s over 5m and 60leds). See inspirasjon photo:)

I'm also going to add position and other ideas that not going to work with static colors.

I would love a walk throug on that idea

I see, in this case I believe a split fixture profile will probably then be the best solution for you. Could you please send over the exact name and brand of the profile you are using (if it is one that is on our global fixture library, if it is a custom profile please send over the .ssl2 file in a zipped folder).

Kind regards,
Will

Thanks for sending that over! I have just manually split the profile myself and added both .ssl files to this response. You can add them to your Wolfmix by following these steps:

- Download and unzip the file attached.
- Go to profile.nicolaudiegroup.com, then log in.
- Select the 'Import a profile' button in the top right of the screen.
- Import the first file, then repeat for the second.
- Connect your Wolfmix to your computer.
- Open WTOOLS and go to the Fixtures tab in WTOOLS.
- Search for the desired fixture within the 'Cloud' brand of the ‘Computer’ list.
- Right click on the fixture and select ‘Sync’ then ‘Confirm’.
- Patch in the 'p1.' fixture, then patch the 'p2.' fixture to the immediate next address (please note- these fixtures will be found in the 'Cloud' brand, not in the '_varied' brand

Kind regards,
Will
