Well, I really hate to say this, but after having spent some time with a MK2 unit, I'm just not able to recommend it. It wasn't recognized by either of my two sequencers, and the limited MIDI implementation just doesn't justify the additional cost. Furthermore, the separate USB ports for power/MIDI really takes away from the portability of the unit and should have been a single USB-C with physical MIDI din ports built-in. The need for a USB/MIDI dongle adds to the overall cost, and there comes a point where I have to ask myself why I'm not just using software. Additionally, it looks like the included manual(s) had no mention of MIDI functionality, whatsoever.
I really want to love this, but I'll have to hold out for the inevitable MK3.
Yep, physical din MIDI is EXACTLY what the community asked for and they ignored us, probably because they chose a cheaper method of implementation or one they didn't rely on a modification of the existing PCB.
They slapped something else on and charge £100 more than the Mk1 version.
I can absolutely sympathize with MK2 users at this point. I initially thought people were overreacting, but I totally get the frustration now. There were so many head-scratching decisions made when it came to how and what to implement. Wolfmix really is leaving money on the table without a proper firmware update/hardware refresh.
I assume no one has officially addressed the reasoning behind the changes?
Who knows
They certainly have a budget for marketing and trade show stands for tutorials, if you take a quick glance at instagram.
Existing customers, who've paid for two products now, get no support and no new development.

Have you contacted their support before? I've just been dealing with their official support and it was very good and easy so I have no complaints,. Also I can see on this forum they have multiple people replying all the time. Looking at this thread it seems like you just like complaining. Yes I would like MIDI controllable flash effects, but I think Wolfmix is still the best controller on the market at the moment. Maybe leave if you only have negative things to say?
Who is this in reference to? I had questions, had them answered, tested the unit, had more questions that went unanswered, and now sort of realized that the MIDI portion has a ways to go and cannot fully recommend MK2 when weighing the cost/features against MK1. It's a constructive critique from a new user and should probably be considered as such. Simple as that.
As for anyone else, I understand their frustration, but also cannot speak for them.

I'm about to purchase a MK2 (after the OG version). Just one question:
Will a Novation Launchpad Mini MK3 be supported and be able to midi learn Presets on the Wolfmix? thnx..
Yes, it would be able to "MIDI learn" the Presets.
Any button will send "its" MIDI Note On value, which Wolfmix will then accept to trigger the selected Preset
I ordered the MK2 vesion and came in today. Allthough the Launchpad mini MK3 is sending note#, on a certain midi channel, the Wolfmix doens't respond when being in 'midi learn' mode. Also tried the older MK2, no luck either. With my APC mini connected and Wolfmix in Learnmode it is showing note#.
I also added my Icon G-board. Had to modify it to Note# and now it works too.
I want to use the chases of the Wolfmix when performing. BPM is synced to a DJ programm. When I have to do an announcement BPM stays the same and chase will continue. I need a steady setup then. The Wolfmix is somewhere in my setup where I can't reach it while performing. That's why I bought the MKII. The Launchpad MK3 is a lot smaller than the APC mini and I already had a compact mic-stand holder for it.. I might as well couln't have bought a stand for the Wolfmix MKI then.
It's a pity the Wolfmix can't handle the Novation controllers. As a small alternative I'm thinking about using the G-Board now.

I feel for your frustrations.
Unfortunately Nicolaudie appears incapable of caring about it's customers concerns, which can be shown from no updates or improvements to the product in the previous NINE months that would help address the multiple issues being encountered by many people.

Wolfmix can handle any MIDI controller, when its setup correctly. Novation Launchpad are mostly setup by default to run Ableton Live. You have to bring it into Custom Mode and create a layout for your session. Then load this layout into your Launchpad. Now the Launchpad is sending MIDI Note Ons and MIDI CCs when hitting a button. This MIDI Note or MIDI CC value then will be auto assigned on Wolfmix when in MIDI LEARN.
Novation Launchpad has to SEND something in order to receive (and assign) to Wolfmix. If in MIDI LEARN, Wolfmix is waiting for the data. If it doesn't come (from Launchpad), it can not assign anything. https://novationmusic.com/articles/laun ... -horizons/

The launchpad mini MK3 has a custom mode which let you assign note nr or CC# to pads. I was able to connect it to an Akai MPC ONE over USB, and trigger note nr in synthesizers connected to the MPC or assign stuff to pads in the Akai MPC. (See the experiment below which I also did with the same Launchpad mini MK3) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UywaQcAuEog https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4cqlS3Cc5pU
i don't know why I can't make it work with the Wolfmix.
