Laser Live Edit/Dimmer Issue
I have a laser that I only want to use very rarely on certain songs when conditions permit. I've created 8 live edits that run the patterns that I want. Here is my issue. When I add the fixture (there is a preset built by WM in the library), if I add it to a group, the laser automatically defaults to firing a single beam (obviously don't want that). The default on the dimmer is 255. When I change it to 0, the beam disappears. Here is the rub - when I create a live edit, I have to manually turn on the dimmer to activate the laser. But then it doesn't respond to blackout, which I need it to. I tried adding the laser to its own group and then also adding it to other (which makes sense given I'm not going use any of the effects etc), but in both situations I don't see how to keep the blackout functional but also only show a beam in the limited circumstances where I am using a live edit. Thoughts? Thanks for having a look.

Hello!
Thanks for the post. Could you please let us know the exact name and brand of the fixture you are using so that I can check this for any potential workarounds you could try?
Kind regards,
Will

Re: Laser Live Edit/Dimmer Issue
Understanding LASERS are not the same as general RGB PAR or LED Bar lightings! The technology is not even comparable. Even when using DMX control.
for 1: The DMX commands may be different between Laser and RGBs - Wolfmix was built mainly to accept RGB (and RGB similar) DMX commands - NOT special Laser DMX commands.
for 2: Laser usually have NO DIMMER control, most Lasers are just On/Off - unless you have an advanced Laser with "ANALOG" controls, transferring the various analog values of DMX into "digital" equivalent values.
for 3: the Channel TYPE DIMMER is always ON (255) - if you want to make it to switch ON/OFF, you have to replace the DIMMER Channel Type with another DMX channel Type (like: WHITE). That way your Laser will be ON only when you press the WHITE button in Static COLOR. If WHITE is not activated, then the Laser will be OFF.
For further help we need to know the brand and model name of the Laser, as every model is behaving different.
