Fixtures Behaving Badly.

Post by CryptoCurrencyasype »

Are these fixtures exhibiting uncharacteristic behavior due to a firmware issue, or could there be another underlying cause for their erratic performance?

Hello,

What fixtures are you experiencing uncharacteristic behavior with? Or is it all fixtures? Has this happened since you have updated?

We've not received any reports of firmware updates causing issues with fixture behavior via our support service, so it may be an issue with the profiles being used. However, please provide as much information as possible about this and i'll investigate.

Wolfmix is running perfect. Your fixture(s) most likely running perfect too. What is NOT optimized is the "glue" between the Wolfmix controller and the fixture functions, which is the PROFILE. in between.

You must understand that the Profiles ( = Fixture description file = a file with the Fixture name you see in the list to patch the fixture) you find in the Nicolaudie Fixture Library are NOT exclusive created and continuously tested for Lightrider or Wolfmix products or any other of the Nicolaudie DMX products. It is a collection of more than ~ 15.000+ Profiles being held in a central repository (Nicolaudie Cloud) for your service. It mostly comes directly from the vendors who provide general fixture information (Channels numbers & Preset values) with their profiles- as they are the only ones who know how their fixtures are set up - and they have no clue in what Controllers it will be integrated and what functionality and User Interface it eventually will have at the end of the day. So the availability of the Profiles from the Nicolaudie Cloud is more seen as a courtesy from Nicolaudie to the users. Without it, the users have to "hunt" for each and every single Profile, asking the vendor and/or searching the web themself (and may not even get a hold of it at all...).

The profiles are NOT ready-out-of-the-box as plug & play. Most of them have to be "optimized" for whatever product you want to use it for and edit it accordingly. It is not Nicolaudies fault and it is not the fixture vendors fault. It is just the way it is and the user has to be prepared to do a little more work to adjust his Fixture to his Controller before starting the Show.
