Pioneer DJM-V10 with Wolfmix W1

Hi,

Is there any way to better connect the Pioneer DJM-V10 to the Wolfmix W1 to better synchronise the lighting?

I use CDJ3000's with USB sticks for music, not a laptop - and simply want to better map the lighting to the BPM/timecode of some sort rather than rely on the audio in.

Happy to buy any additional gear that could help - anyone used this and would it be any use? https://www.pioneerdj.com/en/product/so ... /overview/

Thanks!

Peter

Hi Peter,

I would take a look at ShowKontrol. You can sync Pioneer gear using Pro DJ Link and then send the BPM data out of the software to the W1, using .
Ableton Link. It's used at the majority of the big EDM festivals shows you see all over YouTube. Ultra, Tomorrowland... Pretty sure Printworks in London use it too.

I know it's a bit pricy and you will need a macbook (mac software only) to make all this work, but it's a rock solid piece of software and would be a solid investment for any mobile DJ or live venue with regular events.

Christian Jackson did a tutorial on the software a few years back.

You might be able to accomplish a basic setup with their bottom tier product to be honest. Only $49.

I've never tried, but maybe it's possible without ShowKontrol?

Hey Peter,

I've just come across a free solution which I previously had no knowledge of.

https://github.com/Deep-Symmetry/beat-link-trigger

Beat Link Trigger is a free and open source java app for windows and mac, which does exactly what you are looking for. I tested it last night using my XDJ1000mk2s and the W1 and it was great.
The only snag is that it's impossible to use your WIFI adapter to connect to the internet and have the laptop plugged into the same LAN as your pioneer players/mixer, at the same time. DISABLE your wifi adapter or the app won't see the players correctly. You'll just get an error message saying the port is already in use.

You can overcome this if your PC or laptop has two network adapters. It might also be possible to configure a microsoft loopback adapter or something similar, but I didn't really have time to investigate this further.

Good luck!
