Is it possible to have a preset NOT loop?

Post by Wolfman_Malone »

I know this goes against the intended spirit of Wolfmix... But just out of curiosity. I'd like to have a preset where I can for example have moving lights start pointed at the ceiling, then have them move down to the floor -- and then stop there until I choose the next preset. Or another example of the same thing would be to have a preset where I can have par lights start out as UV, then have them fade to red -- and then stop there until I choose the next preset.

---

Bonus side question:

I love how the Blinder effect has a fade-out. I wish that when you flash white on each separate group (which is done by pressing the top white group button), I wish that white effect would fade out similar to how Blinder does. I understand there are other important things that need to be worked on but this would be mindblowing. Especially if each group white flash had it's own fade-out time setting (due to the greatly varying unchangeable internal dimming curves on all fixtures)

That being said, I don't want to come off as though I just want more and more and more -- I appreciate the effort put into the product we already have!

Hello,

Thanks for raising this thread! If you save a Preset that only uses static functions (colour, and position)- then you should be able to set this up by adding some 'Fade' to the Preset. For example, you can have one Preset that sets the lights static Position pointed at the ceiling in Red, then the second Preset triggers the static Position that points the lights at the floor in Blue. Transitioning from one to another will trigger the fade over however many seconds you decide.

That's what POSITION is for
Open Position and while holding SHIFT, select any Preset (Ceiling or Center or ...) and enter the Position Edit.
Now move all Moving Heads to a "low position" (you can use your finger on the screen to do that). Now store this "Position" by push the Flashing Preset button. Now do the same with ANOTHER Preset and move the Heads all UP and store this as well (you can also add a "10% FAN on ONE Preset and a 90% FAN at the other Preset, for more "drama"). Now flip between the 2 Position Presets using the FADE time at the bottom of the screen, defining how much time it takes to "fade" from one Preset to the next.

Thanks for the replies! That totally makes sense; not sure why my brain was so dead-set on the effect being one single preset rather than a transition between multiple presets.

Now I just long for a quick (like 0.5s) fade-out effect after you hit the white effect on a group~ Would be so nice

Update: I just read something on here that solves my desire to have group white-flash effects fade out instead of simply flashing binary ON/OFF!

A quote from willm from an unrelated topic:

Whilst this is not something that is currently possible- an option that you might find helpful in the latest 2.x FW is:

- Create your Live Edit
- Activate your Live Edit
- Go to Preset screen
- Save your Preset
- Disable the 'Colour', 'Move', and 'Beam' features
- Set the Preset to 'Flash' type
- Map your Preset to MIDI

Now, when you recall that Preset- it will not make any changes to your running FX engines, static Colour or Positions and will only recall the active Live Edits, and Gobos screen. Hope this helps!
So you can set a live edit for each group to flash white and simply make it a flash preset. Most of my presets have a fade-in time of 2s so that means these live edit presets will fade out for 2s.

PERFECT!!!!!!!!!!! :D :D
