Profile builder request
Re: Profile builder request
Hello Dani,
Thanks for raising this thread! The Wolfmix in-built Fixture Creator is a much more simple approach to fixture creation. It generally includes only what is natively controlled within the Wolfmix (i.e. Colour, Pan/Tilt, Gobo Wheel, Focus, Zoom, etc. channel types). Most of the other channel types you have mentioned have no native functionality in the Wolfmix, other than through Live Edits- so adding these options would only take up vital memory that could be put to better use elsewhere.
If you want to create a much more detailed, fully fleshed out profile- I would recommend using the online Profile Builder tool: profile.nicolaudiegroup.com. Any profile created here will appear in your WTOOLS > Fixtures > Cloud & Computer list under the 'Cloud' category, allowing you to sync a custom built profile from the Profile Builder directly to your Wolfmix.
Hope this helps!

Re: Profile builder request
Hello Dani, hello Wilm,
my ADJ Cosmic Burst also supports three variable-speed strobe modes (standard strobe, fadeout strobe, random strobe) on one DMX channel, so I have toyed around the features of the online Profile Builder, too. It was a bit sad to see though that the W1 only partially supports the features (using live edits) found there. Especially for the strobe channels, it would be great to be able to define one of the strobe frequency ranges as default for the STROBE mapping of the flash button.
@Dani: please have a look at my channel definition below.
@Wilm: see https://d295jznhem2tn9.cloudfront.net/I ... Traits.pdf for DMX Ch. 2
Similarily, I would love to see other features of the online Profile Builder being respected by the W1 - my entry-level moving heads for example have quite slow color and gobo wheels, so the "Blackout while wheel changing", "Blackout while color wheel changing" and "Blackout while gobo wheel changing" settings made me hope that by adding one of these presets to value 0 of the dimmer channel would make the W1 set the dimmer to 0 when changing colors. Unfortunately, this is not (yet?) the case.
Best regards,
Sebastian

Re: Profile builder request
Hey Sebastian,
Thanks for sharing this!
For the Strobe function- the Wolfmix will essentially look for any 'Strobe' preset on the channel, then target that. If there are more than one 'Strobe' channel, there are a couple of settings that will be checked for the Wolfmix to decide which preset to target:
1) Does the 'Strobe' preset have a 'Random' toggle? If YES, the Strobe button will target the other 'Strobe' preset that is NOT marked as 'Random'.
2) If there are multiple 'Strobe' presets that use identical settings- the Wolfmix will target the one with the highest DMX value.
So what I would usually do in cases like this where the fixture has multiple strobe types is to use the 'Strobe' preset for the effect type I want to use, then change all other strobe types to a 'Flash' preset. The 'Flash' presets can then be triggered through Live Edit.
_________
Regarding the 'Blackout while CW moving' preset- this is actually meant to be used when a fixture has this channel function already built in. For the Wolfmix, there is unfortunately no way to set up a manual 'blackout while CW moving' effect. The reason for this is that there is no way for the Wolfmix to know exactly when the colour wheel is moving, and when it is still. It's a one way communication from the Wolfmix to the fixture- so the Wolfmix receives no feedback from the fixture. It's only really possible to achieve this type of effect if the fixture itself has this feature built in.
My main suggestion for you would be to play around with the Speed channel(s) of your fixture. By default, the channel may be set to a speed of 128, or even 255- but changing this to 0 might speed up the movement for example.
