Sorry random thread, but I was wondering if anyone has used the non pixel Neon Tube version of this fixture and could speak to it's built quality and battery life?

Really like the new Pix version and half the price of Chauvet Well STX.
Ape Labs Neon Tube PIX
Re: Ape Labs Neon Tube PIX
This might be not the best forum to ask for fixture reviews, you might better look for an Ape Labs group on Facebook.
But for the moment I can give you an answer:
- The stick are not available yet. An estimated release date is middle of July, at least in Germany
- I saw them on the Prolight and Sound fair and I really like them. If you know the "standard" neon tubes, it's pretty much the same, just with individual Pixel control in 32 segments. They have a beam angle of around 180 degree and brightness should be good for almost each privat event. If you want to use them for an Techno Underground Club, I would might go for something else.
- The App was in a beta state at that point, which most probably will not end up in that design. So for the moment I cannot say anything serious about that. I would expect, that Ape labs finds a solution, which is intuitive and easy to handle, but as it also has to work with the remote control (at least this was the message), I don't know how this will look like
- For DMX control, the channel modes are already anounced, so you have the standard ones like the tubes or maxis, where I expect, that you cannot use the pixel feature and then an 32 CH mode (8 segment control) and a 128 CH mode (32 segments). So in theory you have full flexibility, but if you use the 128 Ch mode, you can utilize maximum 4 individual tubes or 3 if you also use other fixtures. For my perspective a 64 CH mode would be great, where you can control 16 Segments, which should be pretty o.k. and a good compromise.
I have preordered them, as I liked the design and perfomance and have a lot of other Ape Labs Fixtures. Most of the time I control them via DMX, but on smaller events I love the possibility to go just with the connect. Therefore I hope they will establish a good App for it.
Compared to the most common competitor at the Moment, Both Lighting, they don't have significant benefetis regarding colors, brightness, batterie durations. I would even expect, that the BL are slightly brighter and they do 360 degrees. The only thing I don't like is the block at the end of the BL tubes, which look like a clumpy lightsaber. But this is just my personal opinion. For me, the biggest benefit is, that they fit in the Ape Labs ecosystem. If you use this or just want to have them standalone running, then it might be the way to go. If you control them anyhow via DMX, then you can think about buying something else on the market like the BL tubes, which are cheaper and perfom good as well.
