Correct. The full release might be a while but they announced the beta would be available in this timeframe a few weeks ago. And in the past the betas have been pretty solid, so I would say definitely more reliable than lots of beta from other companies. I think most of us here are speaking of the beta not the full release. :)

Nicolaudie actually has a track record of leaving beta versions unfinished for weeks (and also months) at a time with known bugs.
I had to prompt them last year to release a stable version of one beta which hadn't been rectified for something like 4+ months.

Don't fall for the PR blitz.

Hi Lee,

Sorry, but this is simply not true. I know what thread you are referring to, and I explained exactly why the 1.2.2 Beta version was left in Beta for so long. It was a simple hotfix update for a customer that had a very specific issue (which we were able to fix in less than a day from the problem being reported). It was left as Beta because most people don't need to update their firmware every time a minor hotfix is made available. This is the whole reason for having a Beta and Official firmware available on WTOOLS for users to choose between.

Hi Will,

I appreciate this was the case and apologies if it appears that I have interpreted this wrong.

However, I still think it's a very valid criticism to point out that none of this was explained AT THE TIME and this is a recurring issue with communication between Nicolaudie and their customers.

"It was left as Beta because most people don't need to update their firmware every time a minor hotfix is made available."

This also simply doesn't make sense. If the version that is touted as the 'stable' release (1.2.1) has a known bug (see below), then all users should be encouraged to update. It costs nothing to push out a mailchimp email to everyone or a forum post explaining why it would be safer to update than not.

I don't know a single other company that would release something they have called a 'hotfix' to fix something they have called a bug, but not explain to anyone at any point why it is or isn't necessary to update, for months. It's just plain lazy.

This is what your beta thread says...

"1.2.2
Features
- Set default value of 'Other Color' channel types to 0

Bug Fixes
- Fix freeze when detecting certain MIDI devices"

How do you know that other users wouldn't encounter similar issues?
Had you tested the previous release with custom built Arduino controllers, for example?

Sorry- I personally don't see the issue. We created a new Beta version with patch notes readily available, anybody can choose to update to the Beta firmware based on whether the update is necessary for them or not. Many users prefer to not to perform updates on their firmware/software unless there is a fix that needed for them, or a new feature they want to use- other than than a lot of people side on the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" argument.

If another user would have come across a relevant issue, it would be super easy for us to point them to updating to the Beta firmware. For the vast majority however, this problem is simply not prevalent- so pushing a new Official every hotfix is not necessary, and can be annoying to more people than it will help. Generally speaking, waiting until the next 'actual' version (i.e. version 1.3) to release the next 'Official' is pretty standard.

I think it's somewhat unfair and misleading to state that we have a track record of leaving Beta versions "unfinished" and "with known bugs when in fact" what you are referring to is a firmware version that was openly documented to include only 1 very minor fix and feature change in it.

I don’t won’t to argue with anybody!

But when it is so how you describe, please say why the latest BETA Firmware is still Beta and not an official firmware. I known very much people who has that firmware on Wolfmix. I know that it has some issues, but now it’s not the point. It takes “ages” to push official new firmware. Sorry for true but it is.

Now NC put info on websites on ISE about new firmware and “everybody” say it came 4-5 weeks. And then???

Then is nothing 🤷🏼‍♂️ People are waiting and struggling with gals info about when it see the day light.

I know. Now is very important to make storm around product, it will improve selling quality and so. But why?? There are guys here who work with that peace of equipment. Why there was official info on 4.02.2025 about new firmware and there is no firmware and any official information when we can it expected.

I think it is very disappointing to customers who bought it. Who hat thought it will make my job. And know they just waiting!

Please don’t understand me wrong. I think it is hard for NC to make some big changes to work. I understand it. But I think that so big company need to understand costumers which invested the money 💰 for equipment and they wait for the promised upgrade their equipment.

That cost nothing to post info about that, that someone make mistake and it will take longer to put it all on the right rails.

That’s it’s my point!

Cheers 🍻

Haha let them cock and we’ll get it!

Personally I think that going in a discussion with the developers doesn’t help anything to speed it up. Let them work to deliver something that makes us super happy. To be fair I didn’t saw such a huge upgrade coming so I’m pleasantly surprised with it. Offcourse I would love to get my hands on but I prefer a stable FW than a rushed one.

Oh and let me take a moment to say I’m super happy with my WMX it’s a super unit to use 👌🏼🫶🏻

Agree 100%! WMX1 took something that used to be a complete chore for me and turned into something that I love and am excited to implement! But I’m definitely ready for the new beta because I’m ready for it to spark some new ideas for different shows!

Saying that though, it’s definitely in all of our interests that it releases in a well tested (even if not perfect) state (regarding the beta)

My gut feeling says it’s coming this week though :)
