Wolfmix 1.2.2 & future direction
No updates since February and that update is still a beta.
How can we be left with a BETA release for FIVE MONTHS!?
What's going on Wolfmix team?
This is shambolic.

Re: Wolfmix 1.2.2 & future direction
Hi Lee,
The last Beta update (1.2.2) was actually released around a month ago, the forum post from February is when we released version 1.2- the name and contents of the post has just been updated to include the most current information on Beta releases.
In fact, version 1.2.2 has only a couple of hotfixes for specific scenarios that were reported to us- so it was not a major update from 1.2 which is why it has been in Beta for the last month. Nevetheless, it has now been pushed to official since it has proved to be a stable firmware.
Kind regards,
Will

Re: Wolfmix 1.2.2 & future direction
Apologies for the not getting my dates right.
Rather a big coincidence that it's now suddenly a stable release after my post though. The scepticism remains.
No messaging about the future direction of the product either
No major updates, basically nine months after release.

Re: Wolfmix 1.2.2 & future direction
Hi Lee,
No coincidence here- I spoke with the dev myself to check about the Beta release and to push the 1.2.2 version to official as we had no issues with 1.2.2 reported as of yet, so we agreed it can be considered stable enough for an official release. The reason we often don't push new officials when they have only minor hotfixes/updates is because it then shows all users a message telling them to update- which is not always necessary when the changes are for specific situations which may not affect everyone (too many updates can be annoying for some users, especially when they are running a perfectly stable version already).
Hope this clears up any skepticism you might have!
With regards to speaking on the future direction of the product- I am afraid we need to operate within a certain level of discretion. As much as I would love to shout about all the ideas and plans for the future of Wolfmix, I think that might just land me in some trouble as a tech support worker! As I have mentioned on a previous post- we are always working on improvements and whilst I can't exactly confirm what or when... There is always work going on to make this product even better.
Kind regards,
Will

Re: Wolfmix 1.2.2 & future direction
Encoder functions aside, there hasn't been anything substantial released on the software side since the mk2 was released though. That's a FACT.
I'm sorry, but this is all just smoke and mirrors at this point.
If you guys were genuinely serious and motivated about improving the functionality of this existing product, then you would have done it already.
If you're going to come out with a mk3 version, with full MIDI then that's just pure opportunism and greed.

Re: Wolfmix 1.2.2 & future direction
Hi Lee,
I feel we could go on in circles for a long time about this, so I'll leave the thread at this... We have been adding to the functionality and improving stability of the product consistently since it's release, and we still have lots more ideas. Implementing these ideas is not always a quick process, I've mentioned before that we have 1 developer on this project who is also balancing a number of other projects as well. There is always work going on behind the scenes. We can't always disclose information about the future plans for the project since it's not our place to do so- but this does not mean that we've abandoned the development altogether.
We feel that the Wolfmix currently already offers a lot of functionality, especially for it's price point. If you are dissatisfied with the rate at which we are able to introduce new features, I can only apologise- but we are all putting our best efforts in to the project, as we always have.
Kind regards,
Will

Re: Wolfmix 1.2.2 & future direction
So, Wolfmix development of the W1 MK2 isn't a priority for Nicolaudie, less than a year after release.
I'm glad we eventually got there in the end, Will.
Time for me to starting looking for an alternative that is serious about prioritising its consumers.
Re: Wolfmix 1.2.2 & future direction
The Wolfmix does exactly what it was advertised to do right out-of-the-box, and as such, these guys owe us nothing beyond the limited product warranty and basic tech support that is described in the product literature. They're not obligated nor required to provide any updates, new features, or changes at all whatsoever.
For that reason, these guys are very careful not to make promises about development, and your posts lamenting the lack of updates highlight exactly why they choose to do it that way. I know this because I am a software developer and every dev has been in a position like this before.
They have chosen to engage with the community to keep their finger on the pulse of how the product is being used. That community outreach will help support existing customers, guide new products, and occasionally it could yield an update to existing ones. But keep in mind, updates to existing products generally have a poor return on investment (cost: hours and hours of development and testing, gain: good will within the community), so they will always be a lower priority for development teams.
Caveat emptor: if a tech product doesn't do what you need it to out-of-the-box, it is your own risk to consider future updates and changes (whether advertised, promised, implied, or perceived to be implied) into your purchase decision.

Re: Wolfmix 1.2.2 & future direction
Making small changes such as:
- MIDI control of live edits and global parameters and macro encoders
- Ableton Link phase/quantise
- FADE presets over Beat/Bar lengths
These are EASY wins requiring little development time that would elevate the Wolfmix to a new standing.
As consumers we should always challenge companies to do better.
It's a really sad day when software developers start talking about RoI on a community forum, rather than joining the debate to push the boundaries even further.
The Wolfmix literally doesn't do what it says it does out of the box.
You can't run a professional live performance (using Ableton Link) if you are unable to quantise the W1 (to Beat 1) with the link session you are connected to.
