The Color Wheel doesn't have BLACK (= dark) as a Preset Color, so there will always be a Color visible shining through.
Blackout would tell the Wheel to rotate to this "default" position/preset, but since there is no Black, it rotates to "another" defined "default" (White). Blackout is NOT DIMMING the LEDs. Blackout will take all R,G,B channels to "0" and park the Color Wheel at "Default" (Black). The DIMMERS however will always stay on.
You can re-assign the default color to the "darkest" color of the Color Wheel, so when Blackout is pressed, it gets to the "dark" color, instead of white

Hello,

Thank you for reporting this issue with the Eurolite TMH-13. We have updated the fixture profile in the last 12 days, so you may not have the most recent version of the fixture on your Wolfmix yet. To update the profile please complete the following steps:

- Connect your Wolfmix to your computer and open WTOOLS.
- Go to the Fixtures tab in WTOOLS.
- Search for your fixture in the Computer list.
- Right click the fixture and select 'Sync', then 'Confirm'.

If you could then test out the updated fixture and let us know if the problem has been fixed or not, that would be very helpful!

Kind regards,
Will

Hi Axell,

Just an fyi - this is actually not quite the case! The Blackout function can work in a number of different ways, it can either:

- Set the RBG values to 0.
- Set the CMY values to 255.
- Set the Colour Wheel channel to 'Black'.
- Set the Shutter channel to a 'Closed' shutter.
- Set the Dimmer channel to 0.

The Wolfmix will search the fixture profile for one of these methods of 'blacking out', if it does not find what it needs it will look for the next possible way of 'blacking out'. This allows a much wider variety of fixtures to utilise the Blackout function as not all Colour Wheels will have a 'Black' option!

Kind regards,
Will

Will,

Yes, I was not "precise" enough when it comes to "BLACKOUT" and you are correct with most of your examples.
It is just the way Wolfmix is working is a bit different to what you would assume "BLACKOUT" is doing when pressing the BLACKOUT button :-)

I noticed the Shutter Closed/Open operations, when this channel is proper implemented and assigned with Open/Closed presets. You push "BLACKOUT" or just do not select any Colors, then it's auto-jumping between Closed and Open when switching on or off Colors. But to do this, the fixtures has to have a proper DMX OPEN/CLOSE implementation in the Shutter&Strobe channel. But not all fixtures have this complete channel implementation and if it does not have it - no joy. Same is true when change Color Wheel channel to "BLACK" (as a Default color), when it only has "8 Colors+White" (Marketing talk), which means there is no BLACK, so it will stay On on a (default) color and cannot be dimmed unless Shutter&Strobe also goes CLOSED. The LED itself will never be dimmed.

However, pressing the "BLACKOUT" button with the intention to (also) set the DIMMER channel to 0 does not work. The DIMMER channel is not affected to change from (default) 255 to any other value. It "stays" at 255 (you can check at DMX values, press BLACKOUT button and check the corresponding DIMMER channel for it's DMX value..) - This is for the BLACKOUT button on the Wolfmix

An additional irritation comes when there is a Profile which has "BLACKOUT" configured as a DMX Preset, which you can find mostly on older effect fixtures (Cameo etc). This Preset definition is kindly ignored by the Wolfmix and doesn't do anything, not even switching OFF any LED.

So as a summary for using the BLACKOUT button:
- Set the RBG values to 0. - Yes!
- Set the CMY values to 255. - Yes!
- Set the Colour Wheel channel to 'Black' (Yes, if there is a "Black" position on wheel: If not, it sets the Default Color - but still on)
- Set the Shutter channel to a 'Closed' shutter. - Yes! (if comprehensive Shutter & Strobe Presets (Open/Closed) are implemented)
- Set the Dimmer channel to 0. - (sorry), but - No
